The Central Bank of Paraguay published a notice that applications remain open until November 12 for the public merit and aptitude competition to form the shortlist of candidates for Superintendent of Retirement and Pensions. The competition is being conducted by the Social Security Council under Law No. 7235/2023. Candidates must be Paraguayan nationals, have recognized integrity, demonstrate suitability in economic, financial or social security matters, and be able to serve exclusively in the post except for part-time teaching. They also must not be subject to the disqualifications and incompatibilities set out in Articles 21 and 22 of Law No. 7235/2023. The superintendent will be responsible for directing, regulating, supervising and prudentially overseeing the National Retirement and Pension System, including the management of pension resources under security, liquidity and profitability criteria to protect affiliates and beneficiaries and support the system's sustainability. Results for each stage of the selection process will be published on the official platforms of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, and the Central Bank of Paraguay.
