The Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) has secured interim travel restraint orders against Zijing Xu, also known as Ryan Xu, a director of Blockchain Global Limited (in liquidation), as it investigates him in connection with the collapse of a crypto asset exchange operated by the company. Federal Court orders made on 20 October 2025 prohibit Mr Xu from leaving or attempting to leave Australia until 20 December 2025. ASIC applied for the orders on an ex parte basis, meaning Mr Xu has not yet had the opportunity to be heard by the Court or respond to the application. The underlying investigation relates to ACX Exchange, a crypto asset exchange operated by Blockchain Global from around January 2016 until its collapse in around December 2019; liquidators were appointed to Blockchain Global on 11 February 2022. The matter is next listed before the Court on 30 October 2025 for an inter partes hearing.
