The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has concluded stakeholder consultation sessions on proposed revisions to the Private Fund Regulations, 2015, aimed at introducing a more structured and globally aligned framework for regulating private equity and venture capital funds. Consultations were held in Islamabad (30 July), Lahore (18 August) and Karachi (27 August), with participation from industry representatives, fund managers, multilateral donor agencies, legal advisors and other stakeholders. The sessions followed the publication of a consultation paper in July 2025, developed after earlier industry feedback, and set out proposals including clearly defined subtypes of private funds, expanded investor eligibility and enhanced governance. Stakeholders have been invited to provide written feedback on the proposed amendments by 5 September 2025, and the consultation paper has been made available on the SECP website.
