The Argentina Superintendency of Insurance has approved a comprehensive update to the regulatory framework for funeral insurance through Resolution No. 309/2026. The measure replaces the previous system of uniform mandatory contract terms and moves funeral insurance into the Plan Deposit System, allowing each insurer to design its own contractual terms within the general regulatory guidelines. The new framework also permits additional clauses for services or supplementary expenses linked directly or indirectly to funeral arrangements, giving insurers more scope to offer broader and more tailored cover. In addition, the maximum insured amount for basic coverage has been increased to the equivalent of 15 minimum living and mobile wages, updating the cap to better reflect current funeral service costs.
