The Chile Financial Market Commission (CMF) launched a second public consultation on proposed amendments to the Updated Compilation of Rules for Banks covering customer service channels, aiming to align the framework with Fintech Act (Law No. 21,521) amendments to Articles 37 and 38 of the General Banking Act. The draft addresses minimum office operating hours, the customer service mechanisms and channels banks must provide, minimum conditions for service delivery, and requirements applicable to customer service channels. The revised proposal incorporates feedback from the first consultation (April 30 to May 27, 2025) and adds clarifications where respondents reported uncertainty, including whether banks may operate before and after the minimum hours and which on-site and remote service channels are within scope. It also notes that the December 31 banking holiday would be repealed once the regulation is issued, as provided by the Fintech Act. Comments can be submitted through the CMF website’s “Regulations Under Consultation” section until July 25, 2025. The CMF also signalled it will continue reviewing the existing framework and may propose further provisions if it deems them appropriate.
