El Salvador's Superintendency of the Financial System has authorized minimum public service hours and bank closure dates for 2027. Banks, cooperative banks, savings and credit companies, and investment banks must provide service from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Service outside those hours or on weekends is considered extraordinary. Entities operating in shopping centers or similar locations may set different hours based on the location's schedule and customer demand, provided they notify the regulator and the public. Nationwide closures are set for Jan. 1, March 25-26, May 10, June 17, Aug. 6, Sept. 15 and Nov. 2. March 27, May 1 and Dec. 25 are omitted because they fall on Saturdays. Additional local closures apply on Aug. 3 and 5 in the San Salvador district, while elsewhere the closure falls on the principal day of the locality's most important festival. Entities may also elect to close on March 24, Aug. 3 and 5, and Dec. 24 and 31.
