The European Central Bank published euro area bank interest rate statistics for June 2026, showing that the composite cost of new corporate borrowing rose 15 basis points to 3.79%. The equivalent rate for new household loans for house purchase was broadly unchanged at 3.51%, while the rate on new consumer loans fell 12 basis points to 7.50%. Term deposit rates increased for both sectors. The composite rate on new corporate deposits with an agreed maturity rose 17 basis points to 2.21%, and the household rate increased 13 basis points to 2.09%. Overnight deposit rates remained substantially lower, rising 6 basis points to 0.59% for corporations and remaining broadly unchanged at 0.28% for households.
