The National Bank of Serbia has introduced a deep link standard for its IPS “Transfer” service, allowing payment initiation to begin in third-party applications and then move to a payment service provider’s mobile banking app for authorization and execution. Payment service providers have upgraded their apps to support the standard, building on the use of deep links for IPS online payments. Viber is the first company to apply the standard through its PayChat chatbot. Users can exchange messages to request funds or initiate a transfer using only a mobile phone number, while payer-payee communication remains in Viber and the transaction is executed within the secure mobile banking and “Transfer” service environment. The standard also provides a basis for similar services across other digital channels for individuals and businesses.
