The National Bank of Denmark published results from its lending survey for the fourth quarter of 2025 showing that loan demand increased during 2025, with further rises expected, particularly among private customers. Credit institutions partly linked higher household demand to strong housing market activity, with several also reporting increased interest in financing buy-before-selling transactions. Corporate loan demand also increased for most of 2025 despite higher geopolitical uncertainty, and one-third of surveyed institutions reported continued growth in demand in the final quarter. For small and medium-sized enterprises, demand from especially new SME customers was stronger in 2025 than in 2024, and 7 of 18 institutions expect SME loan demand to increase in the first quarter of 2026.
