The European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) published two complementary reports intended to support application of the Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard for SMEs (VSME) by mapping digital tools, platforms and initiatives available to help small and medium-sized enterprises report sustainability information. One report targets greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reporting under VSME by mapping 100 digital tools submitted through EFRAG’s call for interest and providing a comparative analysis of shortlisted GHG calculators that met pre-defined criteria. The second report covers 223 SME reporting platforms and initiatives that responded to the same call, comparing the characteristics of shortlisted options that met pre-defined criteria and completed a self-assessment grid to test alignment with VSME. EFRAG framed the publications as a snapshot of the European digital reporting landscape and an initial step toward a pan-European VSME ecosystem, noting that the tools and platforms are presented alongside self-assessments provided under participants’ sole responsibility. It also linked the work to broader efforts to promote market acceptance of VSME following the European Commission’s July recommendation, with the stated aim of supporting uptake and reducing SMEs’ reporting costs.
