The Central Bank of Belize announced that the National Symbols Coin Series will enter circulation on September 18, 2026. Minted by the Royal Canadian Mint, the coins will be distributed through normal cash transactions at commercial banks, credit unions and businesses. The new coins will circulate alongside the existing series featuring Queen Elizabeth II, which will remain legal tender and does not need to be exchanged or deposited. The Central Bank will also offer a limited edition painted 50 cent collector’s coin featuring the Mahogany Tree from September 18, either individually or as part of a collector’s set, but it will not enter general circulation.
