The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (BQK) published remarks by Governor Ahmet Ismaili at the presentation of “DataSphere”, a project by the University of Pristina and the University of Haxhi Zeka, supported by the United States Embassy, to build a comprehensive platform of economic, structural and social indicators for Kosovo. Ismaili framed the initiative as a concrete step toward strengthening data use and evidence-based research, and linked BQK’s support to its strategic objectives on cooperation with academia, research institutions, professional organisations and financial education. He also outlined BQK’s statistical production and publication framework, including monetary and financial statistics, external sector statistics, monthly bulletins, quarterly reports and key publications such as the Financial Stability Report, Financial Stability Indicators and the Quarterly Economic Assessment, and noted regular reporting to the International Monetary Fund, World Bank, European Central Bank and Eurostat. The remarks emphasised that these statistical foundations are necessary for monetary and macroprudential policymaking, assessing financial stability and monitoring Kosovo’s external position, while highlighting DataSphere’s integration of datasets from multiple institutions and its regional comparative dimension for convergence analysis against Western Balkan economies.
