The Central Bank of the UAE participated virtually in the sixth preparatory meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council Central Bank Governors Committee, which reviewed monetary and financial developments and assessed current and planned initiatives under the joint GCC central bank work plan. The meeting continued regional coordination on monetary policy, financial systems and banking services discussed by GCC central bank governors in 2025. The agenda covered updates to the agreement linking GCC payment systems and recommendations from technical committees on supervision, payment systems and cybersecurity. Participants also discussed international cooperation and GCC efforts to combat money laundering and terrorism financing. The UAE delegation was led by Ibrahim Obaid Al Zaabi, assistant governor for monetary policy and financial stability.
