Peru's Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Pension Funds (SBS) has launched the Vida Ley life insurance report, a free online service that allows individuals to view information on the Vida Ley policies and certificates they currently hold or have held, including validity status and the associated insurer and employer. The report is available after registration through the SBS institutional portal for online services. SBS also restated key features of Vida Ley, a mandatory employer-provided policy for private-sector employees created in 1991, including the option for former employees to continue coverage by paying the premium. The cover provides an indemnity of 16 insurable salaries for natural death and 32 insurable salaries for accidental death or total and permanent disability caused by an accident, with beneficiaries prioritised as spouse or partner and descendants, then ascendants and siblings under 18. Eight insurers currently market the product under SBS supervision.
