The Bank of Papua New Guinea confirmed that it identified and contained a recent cyber incident without any impact on financial data or banking systems. Unusual network activity was detected on 21 February within an isolated test environment that was separate from critical network infrastructure. The issue was fully contained and resolved by 23 February, with no disruption to banking operations or stakeholder data. The Bank also stated that the incident was unrelated to a separate cybersecurity event elsewhere in Papua New Guinea, involving different methods and systems.
