At the Astana Finance Days forum in Kazakhstan, Egmont Group Executive Secretary Jerome Beaumont identified digital assets and public-private partnerships as increasingly influential in the global response to money laundering, terrorist financing and associated predicate crimes. Speaking on a panel about financial intelligence in the digital age, he emphasized information sharing, operational collaboration and new approaches to evolving criminal threats. Beaumont referred to the Egmont Group’s work on virtual assets and virtual asset service providers, as well as its guidance and case studies supporting cooperation among financial intelligence units, law enforcement, supervisory authorities and the private sector. Meetings with Kazakhstan’s Financial Monitoring Agency, National Bank, financial institutions and the Astana International Financial Centre also addressed international and public-private cooperation against emerging threats.
