The South Korea Financial Services Commission pledged to support the development of physical artificial intelligence hubs in North Jeolla, North Gyeongsang and South Gyeongsang provinces. Speaking at a regional development forum, Chairman Lee Eog-weon said financing would be needed to support corporate investment and accelerate the use of robotics, AI factories and future mobility technologies across the regions’ manufacturing bases. Local governments, policy finance institutions and regional banks signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on strengthening industrial competitiveness and building regional physical AI ecosystems. The three provinces presented development strategies tailored to their industries, while the Korea Development Bank, Industrial Bank of Korea and Korea Credit Guarantee Fund outlined related financing measures. The initiative aligns with the commission’s broader push to direct finance toward future growth and strategic industries, although no funding amounts or specific programs were announced.
