The Albania Financial Services Authority published its statistical bulletin for the insurance market covering January–September 2025, reporting gross written premiums of ALL 20,183 million, up 10.37% year on year. The number of insurance contracts reached 1,249,988, a 6.16% increase, while gross claims paid were broadly unchanged at around ALL 6,182 million, down 0.02%. Non-life insurance continued to dominate premium volume at 91.69%, compared with 8.27% for life insurance and 0.033% for reinsurance, with compulsory insurance accounting for 61.81% of total premiums and voluntary insurance for 38.19%. Compulsory motor insurance premiums rose to about ALL 12,474 million (+12.96%), with domestic MTPL premiums up 13.92% (contracts up 7.41%) and Green Card premiums up 11.07% (contracts up 2.51%), while border insurance premiums fell 1.58% (contracts down 1.90%). Voluntary insurance premiums totalled about ALL 7,709 million (+6.41%) and contracts increased 8.64%; within property, liability and guarantee lines (over ALL 3,271 million), fire and other property damage represented 68.63% of premiums. Accident and health premiums declined to around ALL 1,090 million (-3.23%), while life premiums increased to around ALL 1,670 million (+13.49%). Motor claims paid reached ALL 4,700 million (+3.33%), representing 76.04% of total claims; average paid claims rose for domestic MTPL to ALL 163,000 (+5.05%) and for casco to ALL 120,000 (+8.57%), but fell for Green Card to ALL 578,000 (-43.79%). The claims figures include Compensation Fund claims reported by the Albanian Insurance Bureau.
