The Central Bank of Ecuador reported a USD 2.339 billion goods trade surplus for the first half of 2026, 44% lower than a year earlier. Exports rose 4% to a record USD 19.571 billion, while imports increased 18% to USD 17.232 billion. Oil exports grew 14% to USD 4.920 billion as a 24% increase in the average crude price partly offset an 8% decline in export volume. Non-oil exports reached a record USD 14.651 billion, up 1%, despite a 57% contraction in cocoa and cocoa product sales. Excluding that category, non-oil exports would have increased 12%. In June, Ecuador recorded a USD 194 million trade surplus, with exports of USD 3.284 billion and imports of USD 3.089 billion.
