The South African Reserve Bank has appointed Franz Ruch as an adviser to the governors, effective Oct. 1, 2026. The appointment also makes him the seventh member of the Monetary Policy Committee. Ruch joins from the World Bank, where he served as a senior economist and contributed to research and analysis, including its Global Economic Prospects report. He previously worked in the Reserve Bank’s Economic Research Department, developing economic models and contributing to the Monetary Policy Review.

The South African Reserve Bank has appointed Franz Ruch as an adviser to the governors and the seventh member of its Monetary Policy Committee, effective Oct. 1, 2026. Ruch joins from the World Bank and previously worked in the Reserve Bank’s Economic Research Department.
