The Financial Action Task Force of Latin America (GAFILAT) completed a high level visit and country training in Tegucigalpa from Aug. 4 to 7, formally starting Honduras' fifth round mutual evaluation. The process will assess the country's technical compliance with Financial Action Task Force recommendations and the effectiveness of its framework for combating money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing. GAFILAT met Honduras' president, Cabinet, legislature, judiciary, law enforcement bodies, financial supervisors and representatives of financial and designated nonfinancial sectors. Honduran authorities affirmed their political support for strengthening the national framework and completing the evaluation.
