The Bank of Botswana has revoked, with immediate effect, the bureau de change licence of Joshua Bureau de Change, ending its authorisation to transact foreign exchange business following the cessation of operations and the voluntary surrender of the licence. The revocation was made under Section 30(1) of the Bank of Botswana Act and the Bank of Botswana (Bureaux de Change) Regulations. The Bank advised the public not to transact with any person purporting to trade in the name of Joshua Bureau de Change and reiterated that buying and selling foreign currency without a valid Bank-issued licence is a criminal offence under Section 30(4) of the Act.
