Morocco's Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Welfare (ACAPS), alongside the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry attached to the Minister of Economy and Finance in charge of the Budget, the Secretariat of State in charge of Foreign Trade, ATLANTIC RE and the Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency (AMDIE), signed a partnership agreement on 28 May to set up a national export credit insurance scheme linked to the launch of Morocco’s foreign trade roadmap. The scheme is intended to protect exporting companies against international trade risks by covering commercial and political risks, secure exporters’ contractual commitments in new or under-covered markets, and support geographic diversification through a pilot phase focused on 15 priority African markets. The mechanism is supported by a government guarantee and involves direct participation from credit insurers and the national reinsurer; ACAPS will oversee its integration into the prudential framework and the scheme’s financial balance and sustainability.
