Brazil's National Treasury, via the Treasury Direct programme and in partnership with B3 with support from ArtemÃsia, announced 40 companies and startups selected for the first edition of TD Impacta to receive BRL 5.2 million and technical capacity-building to develop impact solutions focused on financial education and encouraging savings. The initiative also set out a redesigned second edition structured around three challenge tracks, with selected solutions expected to secure contracts to connect to the Treasury Direct platform. The first edition highlighted 15 standout projects across three categories. In Open Innovation, 10 businesses will receive BRL 50,000 each, and five standouts will share more than BRL 2 million for pilots and proof-of-concept costs. In Acceleration, 10 businesses will receive BRL 40,000 each, with five standouts sharing BRL 1.1 million and continuing to receive support through June; in Creation, 20 entrepreneurs (more than half women) will receive BRL 20,000 each, with five standouts sharing BRL 250,000 and ongoing support in the coming months. Funding comes from the custody fee Treasury Direct investors pay to B3 and is provided as grants. For the next edition, the programme will shift to three challenges: AI-enabled digital financial education journeys integrated with the Treasury Direct platform, educational assistants linked to initiatives such as the Financial Education Olympiad (Olitef), and TD Garantia, a Treasury Direct lien-based rental guarantee intended to replace traditional deposits. The second edition is expected to select 12 solutions (four per track), starting with BRL 50,000 to BRL 250,000 of funding and progressing through additional non-repayable support and a larger funding stage; for the first two challenges, each selected solution is expected to receive a BRL 1 million, 12-month contract with Treasury Direct and B3, while the TD Garantia track may begin with contracts from BRL 750,000.
