Sweden's Financial Supervisory Authority has announced that it will update its rules for the “standard report” so that reporting institutions use the revised Swedish Standard Industrial Classification, SNI 2025, following Statistics Sweden’s planned update of the SNI standard and its business register during 2025. Under the current regulations, banks, credit market companies and investment firms, including their branches, submit quarterly and annual financial statement data via the standard report, which includes classification using SNI industry codes. The current reporting format breaks down industries by the “sections” in SNI 2007, and the authority’s preliminary approach is to retain section-level reporting but align it to SNI 2025. A draft amendment will be circulated for consultation before the authority decides the final changes in autumn 2025. Affected institutions are to submit the standard report under SNI 2025 for the first time on 20 February 2026, covering data as of 31 December 2025.
