The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan published practical guidance for consumers on how to shop online more safely, focusing on reducing fraud risks and protecting personal and payment data. The guidance advises using only protected websites (including the HTTPS lock indicator), avoiding suspicious URLs, and checking the website link and SSL certificate due to the prevalence of cloned “lookalike” online stores. It also recommends not making purchases over public Wi‑Fi, using a separate payment card for online purchases with only the needed amount transferred and spending limits set, enabling additional device and app-store protections where children use the device, and choosing safer payment options such as pay-on-delivery while checking for payment receipts and order confirmation emails and avoiding unprotected payment gateways.
