The Bank of the Lao PDR published an account of its delegation’s participation in the first Biennial Policy Conference 2026, hosted by Bank Indonesia in Bali on Aug. 26-27. The conference discussions concluded that monetary policy alone is no longer sufficient to address global economic uncertainty, highlighting the need for coordinated policy frameworks and adaptable tools to support resilient and inclusive growth. The discussions also examined the expanding role of central banks in developing legal frameworks and digital public infrastructure. Artificial intelligence and blockchain were identified as important tools for improving security, speed and access to financial services, while supporting monetary and financial stability, financial infrastructure reform, green economic development and sustainable finance.
