The Central Bank of Kenya announced it has won the Best New Series of banknotes award at the High Security Printing Europe, Middle East and Africa (HSP-EMEA) Conference, recognising its release of a new banknote series in August 2024. The award citation highlighted enhanced anti-counterfeiting features across the KES 1,000, 500, 200, 100 and 50 denominations, including Louisenthal’s RollingStar i+ thread on each denomination. It noted ZigZag dynamic movement effects on the KES 1,000, 500 and 200 notes and Crystal effects on the KES 100 and 50 notes, alongside iridescent UV bands and dual colour fluorescence as a secondary security element. CBK added the series has been introduced sequentially since August 2024 and circulates alongside the 2019 series.
