The Central Bank of Libya said the Union of Arab Banks selected Governor Naji Mohammed Issa for its Governor of the Year 2026 award during the European-Arab Banking and Economic Summit in Paris. The award was presented as recognition for his role in supporting and developing Libya’s financial and banking sector under exceptional circumstances and for efforts to strengthen Arab and international economic cooperation. According to the release, the recognition reflects achievements by the Central Bank of Libya under the governor and its board, including preserving financial system stability, safeguarding national resources and maintaining banking operations despite domestic challenges and risks. Issa described the award as recognition for Central Bank of Libya employees and staff at commercial banks operating in Libya, and said he would continue work aimed at strengthening stability and development in the banking sector.
