As part of National Financial Literacy Day 2026, the Central Bank of Brunei Darussalam encouraged MSMEs to treat takaful and insurance as risk management tools that can limit financial losses and support recovery from unexpected disruptions. Businesses should assess their operations, industry, risk exposure, budget and values when selecting the type and level of protection. Potential coverage includes protection for business property, commercial vehicles, cyber and liability risks, and workers’ compensation. Depending on their needs, MSMEs may also consider business financing protection, group health coverage and key person or term protection. Takaful operates through shared contributions and risk sharing, while insurance transfers specified risks to an insurer in exchange for premiums.
