The National Bank of Denmark published May 2026 statistics showing that Danish households held DKK 717 billion in Danish investment funds at the end of the month, the highest level on record. The value of those holdings increased in April and May, driven mainly by equity returns of about DKK 60 billion. Equity funds accounted for nearly half of households' wealth invested in Danish investment funds. The release also shows that, since 2025, households have been net buyers of units in both Danish and foreign investment funds while selling individual shares and bonds. As of May 2026, households held DKK 143 billion in foreign investment funds, DKK 213 billion in foreign individual shares and bonds, and DKK 483 billion in Danish securities.
