The Central Bank of Samoa has issued a call for an individual consultant to provide training on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and green finance implementation for Samoa’s commercial banks and insurance providers, supporting the roll-out of its ESG Guidelines and broader Sustainable Finance Roadmap. The training sits within the Global Green Growth Institute’s Agence Française de Développement-funded Greening the Pacific Financial Systems Programme, which aims to improve the resilience and sustainability of financial systems across Pacific Island Countries by encouraging uptake of ESG principles and green finance practices. In Samoa, the work is intended to help institutions implement the ESG Guidelines and the Sustainable Finance Roadmap’s principles, and to support the standardisation of definitions and data reporting across financial institutions as a precursor to developing a national green taxonomy.
