The Central Bank of Iraq launched a workshop on its strategy to increase bank lending to the private sector, with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises, under its National Strategy for Bank Lending in Iraq for 2024–2029. The workshop addressed the need for a unified classification of small and medium-sized enterprises and called for establishing an administrative structure within relevant government bodies responsible for these projects. The lending strategy was developed in cooperation with the German Agency for Development Cooperation (GIZ), which the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Ali Mohsen Al-Alaq, acknowledged for its support.
