The European Central Bank published weekly balance sheet data showing total assets and liabilities of EUR 6.136 trillion, down EUR 25.7 billion from the previous week. The reduction mainly reflected a EUR 15.6 billion fall in securities of euro area residents denominated in euro, a EUR 9.1 billion decline in other claims on euro area credit institutions denominated in euro, and a EUR 3.1 billion decrease in lending to euro area credit institutions related to monetary policy operations. Within monetary policy assets, securities held for monetary policy purposes fell EUR 16.7 billion and main refinancing operations fell EUR 3.1 billion, while longer-term refinancing operations were unchanged. On the liability side, liabilities to euro area credit institutions related to monetary policy operations rose EUR 17.7 billion as deposit facility balances increased EUR 22.5 billion and current accounts fell EUR 4.8 billion. Banknotes in circulation rose EUR 2.0 billion, while liabilities to non-euro area residents denominated in euro fell EUR 28.6 billion and liabilities to other euro area residents denominated in euro fell EUR 18.3 billion.
