The Egypt Financial Regulatory Authority has reconstituted the Egyptian committee responsible for establishing and studying actuarial tables for life insurance, with a mandate to review whether the Egyptian life actuarial tables introduced in 2022 need to be updated. The move is intended to improve product pricing by grounding mortality and disability assumptions in actual market experience reported by insurers. The committee will collect, examine and verify actual experience data on death and disability from insurance companies from the 2022 release of the first Egyptian life actuarial tables through the latest reporting year, and compare those results with the rates in the first version of the tables. It must then prepare a technical study on whether a full or partial update is needed and set out the expected effect on insurance product pricing. The decision also requires the committee to propose how often the Egyptian life actuarial tables should be reviewed in future, in line with changes observed in actual experience data and with international actuarial practice.
