HM Treasury and the U.S. Department of the Treasury published a joint statement on the 13th UK-U.S. Financial Regulatory Working Group meeting, covering economic and financial stability, digital finance, operational resilience, regulatory modernization and international policy developments. The authorities reviewed their respective digital asset and stablecoin regimes, payment modernization efforts, approaches to artificial intelligence, and work on cybersecurity and operational resilience. Discussions also addressed non-bank financial intermediation, private markets, banking and resolution frameworks, Basel III implementation, capital markets and life insurance. Participants reviewed progress by the U.S.-UK Transatlantic Taskforce for Markets of the Future ahead of its July 14 recommendations and joint stablecoin statement. The working group plans to reconvene in early 2027.
