The Dominican Republic's Pensions Superintendency has formally begun the process of obtaining the public-sector Igualando RD Seal, which recognizes institutional practices that integrate gender equality into public administration. The initiative is led by the Ministry of Women with support from the United Nations Development Programme. The process includes a self-assessment, an action plan, capacity development and an external evaluation for bronze, silver or gold recognition. It covers institutional planning and capacity, workplace conditions, accountability and the outcomes of public policies. The Superintendency also plans to promote gender equality initiatives within the Dominican Pension System, where women’s movement into informal employment can reduce contribution periods and affect retirement well-being.
