The Canadian Securities Administrators has granted temporary exemptions from requirements under National Instrument 33-109 for registered firms and individuals to submit certain personal information when applying for individual registration or seeking review as a permitted individual. The exemptions cover information the regulators have determined is unnecessary to assess identity in this context. The relief takes effect May 1, 2026, and will remain an interim measure until National Instrument 33-109 is formally amended. Manitoba and Ontario will concurrently grant similar relief under commodity futures legislation, while Québec will provide corresponding relief under derivatives legislation.
