The National Bank of Moldova announced that Moldovan banks have submitted the first application files to connect to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), initiating the accession process to SEPA Credit Transfer (SCT). The process is coordinated and supported by the central bank and is channelled through the Association of Banks of Moldova, acting as the National Adherence Support Organisation (NASO). Moldova was officially included in the SEPA area on 6 March 2025, and the SCT connection applications represent the first operational step by commercial banks to link into the European payments infrastructure. The National Bank of Moldova highlighted that SCT participation would enable faster and more secure euro transfers to SEPA’s 40 member countries, with lower costs and greater transparency for individuals and businesses, including firms with international activity.
