Central Bank of Seychelles warns of TikTok and Facebook impostor accounts using Governor Caroline Abel’s name

The Central Bank of Seychelles issued a public warning about new impostor social media accounts on TikTok and Facebook that are falsely operating in the name of Governor Caroline Abel, using her images and making illegitimate statements. The central bank reiterated that the Governor has no social media presence in either a personal or official capacity and that any profiles purporting to represent her are fraudulent and not connected to the Central Bank of Seychelles. It said official communications are issued via its website and other official publications, while its social media activity is mainly limited to financial education and public awareness through the Financial Education for Seychelles accounts. The public was advised not to engage with the impostor accounts or share personal or financial information, and the fraudulent profiles have been reported to the relevant platforms.
