The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) announced the publication of Decree No. 12.616/2025, which gives effect to a provision of Decree-Law No. 73/1966 by establishing Brasília as SUSEP’s official seat. The change, adopted within the Executive Branch’s powers, is presented as part of a broader effort to strengthen SUSEP’s presence in the federal capital, including closer integration with other public administration bodies, more effective monitoring of legislative and federal public policy agendas, and support for strategic projects for SUSEP and supervised markets such as the System of Registration of Operations (SRO) and Open Insurance. SUSEP also linked the decree to other institutional measures, including the approval of Law No. 15.040/2024 and Complementary Law No. 213/2025, and authorisation for the entry of 75 new staff later in 2025.
