The Bank of England appointed Nicholas Segal as chair and Peter King as deputy chair of its Enforcement Decision Making Committee, effective Aug. 1, 2026. They succeed Sir William Blair and Philip Marsden, whose terms expired at the end of July. The committee decides contested enforcement cases across the Bank’s statutory regimes, including prudential regulation, financial market infrastructures, resolution, securitization, wholesale cash distribution, critical third parties and banknote issuance. Segal has held judicial and private-practice roles, while King is a former HM Treasury legal director and financial services lawyer. Committee members serve five-year terms and may be reappointed once.
