The Maldives Monetary Authority has published two draft regulations for public comment as part of its implementation of the Insurance Act. The proposals address risks situated in the Maldives and general provisions needed to operationalize the law. The draft Insurance Regulations on Risks Situated in the Maldives set out how such risks would be identified and the circumstances in which the authority may permit coverage through an entity other than a licensed insurance company. The draft Insurance General Provisions Regulations address other matters that the Insurance Act requires to be prescribed by regulation. Comments are due by 1 p.m. on Aug. 18, 2026.
