The Egypt Financial Regulatory Authority has preliminarily approved two projects for admission to its regulatory sandbox to test artificial intelligence applications for insurance services before commercial launch. The projects cover an AI assistant for insurance platforms and an AI-powered voice agent and chatbot platform. The approvals raise the number of projects preliminarily admitted to the sandbox to seven in its first year, with insurance representing the largest share. The sandbox has also provided regulatory guidance to about 40 companies, including assessments of their proposals and support on admission criteria and the regulatory frameworks for nonbank financial activities.
