The Central Bank of Russia reported that prices rose faster in 80 Russian regions in June than in May, largely because of one-off factors. Food and fuel were the main drivers, while service price growth slowed in more than half of the regions, though it remained high overall. Food prices increased in most regions, mainly because fruit and vegetable prices moved up in June after a sharper-than-usual decline in April and May. Non-food prices were pushed up mostly by higher petrol and diesel prices linked to lower production and temporary supply disruptions. Excluding petroleum products, non-food prices fell on average in nearly 40 regions. Service price increases slowed in more than half of the regions, and some regions saw average prices decline, mostly because demand for domestic tourism became more moderate. The central bank said it will continue monetary policy aimed at achieving sustainably low inflation across all Russian regions.
