Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Finance reported that a ceremonial event was held on 9 September 2025 to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the State Financial Intelligence Service under the ministry, alongside the professional holiday of financial intelligence employees. The event focused on the service’s recent achievements, its role in countering money laundering and terrorist financing, and the importance of inter-agency and international cooperation. The Chair of the State Financial Intelligence Service, Kanat Asangulov, highlighted recent results and set out tasks ahead, with emphasis on strengthening cooperation domestically and internationally. First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Daniyar Amangeldiev described the service as playing an important role in economic and financial security and praised its work to counter terrorism financing and the laundering of criminal proceeds. Participants delivering remarks included representatives and officials associated with the Eurasian Group secretariat, the Russian Federal Financial Monitoring Service (Rosfinmonitoring), the International Training and Methodological Center for Financial Monitoring, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe programme office in Bishkek, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime programme office, as well as Kyrgyz state law enforcement and supervisory bodies, the Ministry of Finance and the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.
