The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) has made its investor education content available on Zogo, a financial learning app, covering setting investment goals, opening a brokerage account and starting to invest. The material adapts FINRA’s existing resources into short, interactive lessons and quizzes, extending their distribution to users including younger and newer investors. The content is educational and does not recommend particular investments, financial professionals, firms, products or strategies. Its availability follows new research from the FINRA Investor Education Foundation and Stanford University showing that only 18% of surveyed investors demonstrated advanced investment literacy. Investors with stronger investment knowledge were also less likely to invest in a hypothetical opportunity displaying signs of fraud.
