Greece’s Ministry of National Economy and Finance published remarks by Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis from a SKAI television interview, signalling that the government’s package to be announced at the Thessaloniki International Fair will prioritise growth-oriented measures and reduce burdens on the middle class, alongside further digitalisation of tax compliance. The ministry pointed to the digital client registry as already in operation, describing it as part of tax system rationalisation and efforts to curb tax evasion. Over two months, the system recorded 185,000 vehicle movements, with 4,000 workshops and parking facilities and 1,100 car-rental offices reported to have installed it. Digital invoices are currently issued via businesses’ ERP systems and the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) web application, with a mobile application planned. Pierrakakis also said work is underway with the Bank of Greece and commercial banks on a solution to reduce the cost for Swiss-franc borrowers, with scenarios taking into account exchange-rate impacts, the Hercules non-performing loan securitisations, and whether loans are performing or have been converted into euros; the out-of-court settlement mechanism is expected to feature. Separately, OPEKEPE is set to be fully integrated into AADE in early 2026, starting with the transfer of all data to AADE for follow-up actions, while housing proposals are being prepared to bring more homes to market. Official announcements on the policy package are expected at the Thessaloniki International Fair, while the ministry described both the Swiss-franc borrower solution and the AADE mobile invoicing application as forthcoming in the near term; the OPEKEPE integration is framed as a phased process culminating in early 2026.
