Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services, working with Visa, has begun a financial education campaign to promote informed, safe and responsible use of contactless payments on public transport in Mexico City. The initiative focuses on helping users understand the benefits of tap-to-pay transactions and how to use them safely on systems including the Metro and Metrobús, against a backdrop of rising digital payment use and the expected arrival of millions of domestic and international visitors for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The campaign is designed to provide practical, accessible guidance on making fast and secure contactless payments, protecting payment cards and other payment tools, and making better use of available digital services. Visa developed the communications campaign and it features former football player Jorge Campos to deliver clear public-facing messages. CONDUSEF places the collaboration within its broader work on financial inclusion and financial education as digital payment methods become more common in everyday transactions.
