Tajikistan's Ministry of Finance reported that a Tajik delegation led by Finance Minister Fayziddin Sattor Kakhkhorzoda and National Bank of Tajikistan Chairman Firdavs Tolibzoda met International Monetary Fund (IMF) Middle East and Central Asia Department Director Jihad Azour on 13 April 2026 on the margins of the IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, DC. The talks covered the country’s current economic situation and priorities for continued cooperation. Tajikistan highlighted what it described as the successful implementation of its IMF programme, citing positive results in strengthening the confidence of development partners and investors and expanding the country’s capacity to attract international financing. The IMF confirmed its readiness to continue close engagement with Tajikistan across macroeconomic stability, fiscal and tax policy, public financial management, private sector development and the investment climate, public debt management, technical assistance, priority reforms, digitalisation of the financial system, and institutional capacity building.
